BOXED WARNING: RISK OF THYROID C-CELL TUMORS See full prescribing information for complete boxed warning. • Liraglutide causes thyroid C-cell tumors at clinically relevant exposures in rodents. It is unknown whether Victoza causes thyroid C-cell tumors, including medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), in humans, as human relevance could not be determined by clinical or nonclinical studies. • Victoza is contraindicated in patients with a personal or family history of MTC or in patients with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Use this medicine exactly as directed on the label, unless instructed differently by your doctor * Take medication at the same time each day. * Take this medicine WITH food, a meal, or a snack. Do not take on an empty stomach. * Patients must receive full and complete instructions about the nature of DIABETES and learn to self-monitor blood glucose. * A reduced-calorie DIET and increased physical activity are usually part of the treatment regimen. Follow prescribed diet and exercise programs. * Use this medicine for the full prescribed treatment period.

* There are no adequate or well-controlled safety studies in pregnant women. NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF PREGNANT or intend to become pregnant. * Strict adherence to personal hygiene, avoidance of infection & foot care are essential. See your dentist twice a year & an ophthalmologist regularly. * Self-monitor blood glucose. Test urine for glucose and ketones as prescribed. Have glycosylated hemoglobin tested regularly. * Notify your doctor if signs of HYPERGLYCEMIA develops [eg, excessive thirst or urination, positive test for glucose or ketones in urine]. * Treat mild episodes of HYPOGLYCEMIA (weakness, nervousness, confusion, headache, nausea, dizziness, rapid respiration) with oral glucose. * Treat severe episodes of HYPOGLYCEMIA (coma, seizure or neurologic impairment) with glucagon IM/SC injection or concentrated IV glucose. * Notify your doctor if signs of INFECTION develops (eg, fever, sore throat, chills, or unusual bruising or bleeding). * Patients should wear identification tags (Medic-Alert) to alert medical personnel, in case of an emergency, to your condition or drugs you're taking. * Because of INTERACTIONS, report the use of any other prescription or nonprescription medicines, including natural/herbal remedies, to your doctor. * DO NOT DRINK alcoholic beverages or take alcohol-containing preparations while being treated with this medicine. * This medicine may cause increased sensitivity to the sun. You should AVOID prolonged or excessive exposure to direct and/or artificial sunlight.

Nausea; Headache; Heartburn; Gas; Stomach discomfort or pain; Vomiting; Increased sensitivity to sunlight; Diarrhea; Drowsiness; Dizziness.

If symptoms are mild but do not go away or are bothersome, check with your doctor. IF ANY OF THE ABOVE SIDE EFFECTS IS SEVERE, CALL YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY.
